For over 25 years CCLM has served the vulnerable in San Bernardino, primarily through 70 shelter beds for homeless men. In order to continuing serving this population, it is imperative our shelter is brought up to code.
We have an opportunity to achieve this goal at a very reasonable cost. LSS is once again partnering with HomeAid, a leading nonprofit that builds and renovates shelters across America, to construct a brand new shelter on the open lot next to the mission.
There will still be 70 beds, along with showers and bathroom facilities. This is the first phase of a long-range plan to provide supportive housing. We are scheduled to break ground in Fall 2017, with a target completion date of late Spring, 2018.
In the meantime, we will continue to provide community services like the classes we offer, thrift store, and after-school homework assistance program, in support of the worshipping community.
The Lutheran community has been a vital part of CCLM’s past, and now we need your continued support to ensure its future. We only need $150,000 to reach our goal.
If every congregation pledges $500, $10 a week, by the end of this year we will reach our goal of $150,000. Please share the CCLM story with your family and network, and prayerfully consider our request.
